Engineering experts discuss BIM role in MENA projects

Leading engineering experts discussed the use of building information modelling (BIM) technology in improving architectural and construction capabilities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at key seminar hosted by Mercury MENA,  an international engineering specialist solutions provider in Bahrain.MERCURY_MENA_Logo_news_size

The BIM is the most modern technology on digital construction involving the generation and management  . . . [ms-protect-content] of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places.

The seminar entitled “Digital Construction - Building with BIM,” was organised by Mercury MENA in association with Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE) at the society's headquarters in Juffair.

The event saw experts discuss the use of BIM in improving engineering and construction capabilities in Bahrain and the MENA region.

Terry Williams, the head of engineering at Mercury MENA and a specialist in BIM technology, gave a presentation on the BIM in front of a large gathering comprising BSE members and representatives of various companies engaged in the construction, property development and other related fields.

An industry veteran, Williams boasts of over 15 years of 3D design experience across the engineering consultancy and contracting sectors.

BSE president Masoud Ebrahim Al Hermi said the society pursues the enhancement of local standards in engineering practice, which includes the use of BIM technology in architectural and engineering firms.

"Through this forum we would like to generate increased awareness towards BIM and promote its uses for the end benefit of construction managers, architects, engineers and facility management personnel," he added.
